  • Performance Point Server Error - "The Unattended Service Account"...

I’ve been getting into a lot of different technologies recently and one of those was SharePoint 2010 and PerformancePoint Services . While trying to get a demo up and running for Adam Cogan , I ran into the following error in Dashboard Designer when trying to create a new data source. The data source cannot be used because PerformancePoint Services is not configured correctly. Additional details have been logged for your administrator Trying to find the cause of this I ventured into: Central...

  • Reserved.ReportViewerWebControl.axd not found

Ran into this issue the other day at work. We were developing some reporting services reports for a client and viewing them through a report viewer control in the intranet site we were developing. The reports ran fine in the development environment but as soon as it was published to testing the reports behaved strangely. The test box was a Windows 2008 Server Standard Edition with IIS installed and .NET 3.5 SP1. The reports page was reporting a 404 on the following resource "Reserved.ReportViewerWebControl...

  • Client side table sorting and filtering with jQuery tablesorter

Ran into an awesome jQuery plugin today while trying to find a quick way to add filtering and sorting to a table on the client machine rather than on the server side. It’s called TableSorter . You can easily enable client side filtering, sorting and paging with a few lines of javascript and a multitude of options to customize it to your needs. Here’s a demo. You can click on the headers to sort or type into the textbox to filter by FirstName or LastName. Search: Last Name First Name Owing...

  • ASP.NET Dynamic Data - Display Custom Text in a Foreign Key DropDownList/ComboBox

I got asked a question recently about ASP.NET Dynamic Data and how to customize the display text of foreign key dropdownlists/comboboxes The exact question was "I have a foreign key to a list of store locations. Each location has an address but the default drop down only shows the state. How do I get it to show: "State - Region - StoreName" Here's how you do it: Create a partial class of your domain object and add a new column [DisplayColumn("DisplayName", "DisplayName"...

  • SSW TFS Smashing Barrier demoed at ALM conference

Adam Cogan demoed SSW’s TFS Smashing Barrier at the ALM Conference @ Luna Park yesterday. It’s a neat little user control that has always existed on the SSW website (visible only to internal staff) that allows a user to quickly report an issue on the page and to find out: What active tasks are there for the current web page? What tasks have been completed for the current web page It helps stop the following common scenario: Tristan (eagle eyed) Kurniawan: “Hey! The usability of...

  • VSTO Addins break after Visual Studio 2010 SP1 install, can't find config file

I ran into a breaking change with Visual Studio 2010 SP1 and VSTO at a client today. It seems there was a change that caused Office addins to look for their config files in the application’s folder instead of from the addin’s folder (e.g. Word.exe.config or Excel.exe.config). The result is all sorts of chaos with AppSettings, WCF service bindings and anything else that needs to be read from the app.config The details are posted here on connect - Visual Studio SP1 (or specifically VSTO...

  • SharePoint - Cannot get ghost document

We chased a fun bug in the afternoon after we deployed our new package to our staging server. Symptom: Our customized Content Query Web Parts stops rendering. But we noticed they were still functioning when we drop into edit mode. Hint: This gave us the hint that our XSL was probably stuffed – but it checked out ok in SharePoint designer * . Detective Work: Digging through the SharePoint logs, we came across two lines that are incredibly suspicious: 0x17C4 Windows SharePoint Services Web Parts 89a1...

  • CRM 2011 Outlook Client - Stuck in reboot loop installing SQL Express

Ran into this issue today when trying to install the Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 for Microsoft Office Outlook where the installer would constantly ask for a reboot when trying to install “Microsoft SQL Server Express Edition 2008 (CRM)”. No matter how many times you rebooted it would always ask to reboot again. Note: This only happens if you use the “Offline” functionality. The solution to this is to manually install Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Express and call the instance...

  • SharePoint - ContentQueryWebPart, CommonViewFields and Multi-value choices

When you add a choice or lookup to the CommonViewField for a ContentQueryWebPart, if you had ticked the allow multiple-values checkbox, the CQWP will return you nothing. Couple of people blogged about this: http://sridharu.blogspot.com/2008/05/content-query-webpart-customization.html http://blogs.msdn.com/ecm/archive/2006/10/25/configuring-and-customizing-the-content-query-web-part.aspx Adri Verlaan [MSFT] even says: Unfortunatly the data source that the CQWP uses does not support Mutli-Valued Lookups...

  • Cross Browser Copy and Paste - with ZeroClipboard *updated*

I previously wrote about a cross browser copy and paste using jQuery.Copy . Everything was fine until flash updated to version 10. It now throws a security warning. Jojo pointed out that were was another plugin using the same concept that avoids this security warning. Enter Zero Clipboard The implementation is simple: Step 1 - Include ZeroClipboard.js & ZeroClipboard.swf Include ZeroClipboard.js in your header scripts. After the script, set the path of the ZeroClipboard.swf flash file. <head>...
